Governing Board Committees

The following committees are NCS Governing Board committees and are chaired by governing board members.

Finance Committee

Coordinates and prepares NCS's annual budget, monitors budget compliance, recommends financial policies to the board, reports financial results to the board, and helps establish financial goals.

Personnel Committee

Develops and maintains hiring; grievance; transfer; evaluations, including the principal evaluation; and other personnel procedures. Works with the principal and the board chair to implement these policies and assists with hiring staff.

Fund Development

Coordinates NCS's fundraising. This includes NCS's annual campaign, grant writing, and fundraising events: Fall Fling (Silent Auction, Raffle, and Live Children's Art Auction), Low Country Boil, and Golf Tournament.

Committees that Report to the Governing Board

These are created by the NCS Governing Board and may be chaired by non-governing board members.  Sub-committes are generally on-going committees.

Building & Grounds

Helps maintain and improve the school's building and grounds. The school is in the process of implementing a comprehensive site plan. Also helps with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) health and safety plan for the school.

Diversity Awareness & Initiatives

Helps gather information about school-wide diversity and coordinates programs and other initiatives to recognize, celebrate, and respond to the diversity of the school and community. Recommends programs and plans to improve culturally responsive practices within the school.

Registration

Coordinates NCS's Registration process including canvassing neighborhoods, conducting information sessions, handling paperwork, and conducting lotteries (when necessary).

Related Arts

Helps to continue to develop and implement an arts, music, Spanish, and physical education program within the school. Works to integrate art and music from cultures represented within the school for recognition, exploration, and celebration. Helps coordinate Winter Fest, Festival de Colores, and Field Day.

Student Learning

This committee, which is composed mainly of teachers, gathers information and input about curriculum and curriculum issues, coordinates NCS's annual curriculum night and other similar functions, and collects feedback from families about the curriculum to share with administration and the board.

Technology

Coordinates and assesses technology at NCS to insure that the equipment and educational implementation will provide students with the tools they need to succeed. Conducts school-wide technology research and implementation including development and maintenance of the school website. Encourages school use of available technology.
